Frequently Asked Questions

When are Rankings updated on the website?

Our Official Event Locations have 36 hours to forward the results to Member Services, member services then enters the information into the online database. It can take up to 7 days for results to appear online. Please be patient, member services currently processes results and memberships for over 20,000 players.

How do the blinds work if someone new joins a table?

If someone joins a game late (either through the waiting list or by showing up late), that player posts the Big Blind (BB) regardless of where he/she sits. If someone gets moved from another table during the game, then he/she does not have to post a BB unless he/she sits in the BB spot. (It's possible that he/she would have to post a BB twice in a row if he/she came from another table and just posted the BB there.) If someone sits in the Small Blind (SB) spot after joining from another table, he/she has a choice to either play and post the SB, or sit out one hand and let the deal pass him/her.

What happens to the blinds when someone due to post a blind gets knocked out?

If the player due to post the SB gets knocked out, then on the next hand there will only be a BB posted. Every player must play a BB. If the player due to post the BB gets knocked out, then the BB advances to the next player at the table. What happens to the blinds when we get down to two players/heads-up play? When two players remain, the player due to assume the BB will do so, and the SB will inherit the button. (Whoever is the dealer will be the SB. This is done because the dealer always has the advantage. He/She can choose to post the rest of the blinds or fold.)

Raising?

The amount of the raise must be at least the amount of the BB. If there is a re-raise, it must be at least double the amount of the raise.

When consolidating tables, when do you draw for dealer?

You draw for dealer only when there is at least 50% of the table being turned over. For example, 4 people, join 4 people. If 3 move over, you DO NOT, draw for dealer, the deal continues where it is at and the new players fall into the blinds where they sit.

Whose responsibility is it to make sure the table runs correctly?

We do not have a professional dealer or host watching each table. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the players to make sure that there is no cheating, that the blinds are posted correctly, and that the pots are correct. Remember, this is a fantasy poker league. TFPL workers are all part-time employees and not professional poker players or managers. Each employee is required to know the rules and the tournament format, and to be courteous to all players. The tournament host has the last word to any ruling issue on the table during league play. Please be patient with all of our employees.

Is there a fee to play in a TFPL tourney? Do I have to spend any money at the location to play?

No. By law, we cannot charge a fee, buy-in, or cover charge to play in a TFPL event. No. You do not have to spend any money at the location to play. However, if you do not spend any money, the bar/location does not have a reason to host a TFPL event. They are doing this to expose their establishment to new and existing customers; like any business, they need to make money. If they are not happy with results from our poker nights, then they will not continue to host TFPL events.

What is the age requirement for membership with TFPL?

You must be at least 21 years of age with a valid ID.
